Data residency
Your data stays where it belongs
Data residency and sovereignty are first-order concerns for African hospitals and ministries. Veona is built so that patient data lives in your country or region, or fully on-site, depending on your model.
In-region cloud
Hosted in your country or region
- Patient data is hosted in your country or region to satisfy data-residency requirements.
- We do not move patient data out of its region without instruction.
- The hosting region is selected per deployment to match local law and ministry requirements.
On-premise
Fully on-site at the facility
- Veona can be deployed on-premise so that patient data never leaves the facility’s own infrastructure.
- On-premise deployment keeps clinical data fully on-site, under the facility’s direct control.
- Offline-first design means the facility keeps working during internet outages, with sync when connectivity returns.
How we think about it
Residency and sovereignty principles
Sovereignty Data is governed by the law of the country where it is hosted and processed.
Controller and processor The facility is the controller; Veona is the processor acting on documented instructions.
No silent transfers Patient data is not transferred out of region without instruction.
Subprocessor transparency Any service provider that supports a deployment is listed with its region.
See the subprocessors page for the representative providers that may support a deployment, and compliance for the law that governs each market.
